Amid nationwide outrage over the alleged NEET UG 2026 question paper leak, the Indian Youth Congress in Tripura on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the central government, accusing it of failing to protect the integrity of the country’s education system.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhavan in Agartala, Tripura Youth Congress president Neelkamal Saha strongly criticized the government over the controversy surrounding the national medical entrance examination.
He described the alleged paper leak as a “dark chapter” in the history of India’s education system and claimed that the incident had shattered the confidence and morale of lakhs of meritorious students across the country.
Neelkamal Saha alleged that the scandal exposed corruption, administrative negligence and serious loopholes within the country’s examination system.
Criticism Of National Education Policy
The Youth Congress leader also targeted the National Education Policy 2020, alleging that it has made higher education increasingly inaccessible for economically weaker and backward-class students.
According to him, the policy has tilted the education system in favour of financially privileged sections of society while pushing poor students further to the margins.
He further claimed that education in the country is gradually being commercialized and alleged that despite repeated incidents of examination paper leaks in recent years, the central government failed to take effective preventive action.
Demands Raised By Youth Congress
The Tripura Youth Congress demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the controversy.
The organization also demanded the dissolution of the National Testing Agency and urged the Centre to return examination responsibilities to individual states.
The Youth Congress further sought an impartial investigation into the entire controversy under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India to identify the alleged masterminds and any political backing linked to the scam.
The organization also demanded a transparent re-examination process without imposing any additional financial or psychological burden on students.
Compensation Demand For Economically Weak Students
Neelkamal Saha said many students from economically weaker backgrounds had reportedly taken loans or mortgaged property to prepare for the examination.
In view of the cancellation and controversy surrounding the examination, the Youth Congress demanded compensation and financial support for such affected candidates.
He alleged that repeated paper leak incidents under the BJP-led government have endangered the future of lakhs of talented students.
Saha further stated that the Youth Congress would actively participate in nationwide protests and movements against the commercialization of education and repeated examination irregularities.
