US President Donald Trump has escalated tensions in the Middle East by issuing a strong warning regarding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the waterway is an international maritime route and cannot be controlled by any single country, including Iran or Oman.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting at the White House, Trump declared that all global shipping vessels must continue to enjoy unrestricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
“We will monitor it, but no one will control it. Iran wants to control it, but they won't. This is international waters. Oman must behave like other countries, or we'll blow it up,” Trump warned.
The statement comes amid growing tensions between the United States and Iran over regional security, maritime trade routes, and military activities in the Gulf region.
Trump also claimed that Iran had initially believed Washington would withdraw from negotiations, but Tehran is now under pressure to strike a deal.
“Iran thought they could tire me out by making me wait. They thought I had midterm elections coming up, but I don't care. Iran just wants a deal now,” Trump said.

Why The Strait Of Hormuz Matters
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. A major portion of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes through the narrow maritime corridor every day. Any military escalation in the region could significantly impact global energy markets, international trade, and geopolitical stability.
