Despite the recent hostilities, the agreement does not impose any restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz one of the world's most strategic maritime trade routes and a key transit point for global oil supplies.
The latest round of conflict witnessed US forces carrying out strikes on Iranian missile and radar installations. In retaliation, Iran targeted American military bases located in Kuwait and Bahrain.
