Fresh signs of escalation have emerged across the Middle East as the United States warns its citizens about the rapidly changing security situation, while Iran says it has communicated conditions for ending the ongoing conflict through Qatari mediators.
US President Donald Trump returned to Washington on Saturday evening after cutting short his stay at Camp David by one day. The White House has not publicly provided a reason for the change in his schedule.
The development came as the US State Department issued fresh security warnings for Americans in the Middle East, saying the military situation could deteriorate quickly and advising travellers to closely monitor flight and airport operations.
US Issues Fresh Security Warning Across Middle East
Washington has urged Americans in several Middle Eastern countries to exercise heightened vigilance amid the expanding conflict.
The latest warning covers a region facing growing military and security risks, with US authorities cautioning that airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruptions could occur with little notice. Americans outside the region have also been advised to reconsider travel to and through the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia remains under a Level 3 US travel advisory, with Washington citing risks including armed conflict, terrorism and potential Iranian drone and missile attacks against American interests.
Iran Sends Conditions to Washington Through Qatar
Iran says it has conveyed a set of conditions to the United States through Qatar as part of efforts to reopen negotiations and bring the conflict to an end.
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told Al Jazeera that Doha had passed Tehran's demands to Washington and that Iran was waiting for Trump's response.
Among the conditions publicly identified by Rezaei are an end to military operations on all fronts, the release of Iranian funds frozen overseas and the lifting of the naval blockade.
Rezaei also said Tehran remains prepared for further military confrontation if its demands are rejected. Al Jazeera reported that Qatar and Pakistan have been involved in efforts to revive negotiations between the two sides.
Houthi Attack Raises New Saudi Arabia Security Concerns
The conflict is also putting additional pressure on Saudi Arabia.
Saudi authorities said the Houthis attempted to strike Riyadh with a ballistic missile and that the projectile was intercepted. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that the group launched drones as well as ballistic and cruise missiles against targets in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Houthi statement, targets included Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu. The reported attack has added to concerns about the conflict spreading across a wider part of the region.
US authorities have specifically warned that the fighting involving the Houthis could escalate rapidly, prompting additional security alerts for Americans in the region.
US B-1B Bomber Report Adds to Military Tension
Amid the heightened regional tensions, reports have also emerged concerning US military movements.
Russia Today reported that a US B-1B Lancer bomber departed RAF Fairford in Britain and headed towards the Middle East. Separately, Iranian state media Press TV reported air-defence activity near the Kharab al-Jir airbase in northeastern Syria.
These reports come against the backdrop of an already expanded US military presence and heightened regional hostilities. Independent confirmation of the specific operational details should be treated with caution.

Mohammadi has spent years campaigning for human rights in Iran and has been imprisoned repeatedly because of her activism. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023.
Middle East Conflict Enters Another Critical Phase
The latest developments point to several interconnected pressure points: US-Iran confrontation, Iranian diplomatic demands, Houthi attacks involving Saudi Arabia and growing concerns over regional military escalation.
For Washington, the immediate challenge includes protecting American citizens and diplomatic facilities while managing the wider military implications of the conflict. For Tehran, the conditions communicated through Qatar indicate that diplomacy remains part of its stated approach even as Iranian officials continue to warn of further military confrontation.
With regional actors increasingly drawn into the conflict, developments in the coming days are likely to remain closely watched across the Middle East and beyond.
