Warner Arrested for DUI, Court Hearing Next Month

Former Australian opener David Warner has been charged with drink-driving after being stopped by police during a random breath test in Sydney.

The incident took place in the Maroubra area, where officers were conducting roadside checks. Warner reportedly halted his vehicle before reaching the testing point, prompting police to approach and administer a breath test. The result showed a blood alcohol level of 0.104, leading to his arrest and subsequent charge. He was taken to Maroubra Police Station and is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Warner had travelled to Australia during a break in the Pakistan Super League, where he is currently captaining the Karachi Kings. He is now expected to return to Pakistan ahead of their April 9 fixture against Peshawar Zalmi in Karachi.

Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner enjoyed a distinguished career, featuring in 112 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 110 T20Is for Australia, amassing over 15,000 runs across formats.

Despite stepping away from the international stage, he remains an active presence in franchise cricket. In the previous season of the Big Bash League, Warner scored 433 runs in eight matches for the Sydney Thunder, finishing as the side’s leading run-scorer. He has also re-signed with the franchise for the upcoming season.
