East Agartala police detained a young man after he was allegedly found carrying a pistol-like object tucked into his waistband while standing near Agartala Town Hall.

The incident came to light when police noticed the youth behaving suspiciously in the area. Acting on their suspicion, police personnel stopped him and conducted a search. During the search, a pistol was recovered from his possession.

However, preliminary examination of the recovered object reportedly revealed that it was not a genuine firearm but a fake pistol.

Fake Pistol Allegedly Used To Intimidate People

Police are examining whether the imitation weapon had previously been used to threaten or intimidate members of the public.

Investigators are also trying to determine the circumstances under which the youth obtained the fake pistol. The police are questioning the arrested youth to establish where the object came from and whether it was connected with any earlier incidents.

East Agartala Police Begin Investigation

The East Agartala Police Station has initiated an investigation into the matter. Officers are expected to gather further information regarding the youth's movements, the purpose of carrying the fake weapon and its alleged use on previous occasions.

At this stage, the investigation is continuing, and further details are awaited from the police.

The incident has drawn attention because a fake firearm can nevertheless create fear and confusion when displayed or carried in public. Police are therefore examining the circumstances surrounding the recovery and the alleged intimidation claims.

More details are expected as the East Agartala police investigation progresses
