Youth Killed After Being Hit by Sabroom-Agartala Train Near Santirbazar

A tragic railway accident claimed the life of a young man early Saturday after a Sabroom-Agartala bound train ran over him near Kalapara and Durgaraipara in Santirbazar subdivision.

Police officials said the identity of the deceased youth has not yet been confirmed. The impact of the speeding train was so severe that the victim’s head and face were badly crushed.

According to Jayanta Das, preliminary investigation suggests that the fatal accident occurred after the youth was hit by a moving train near the railway tracks.

Local residents believe the victim may have gone out for a morning walk and was walking along the railway line when the incident took place.

Residents also pointed out that multiple railway accidents had occurred earlier in the same area, raising serious concerns over recurring safety risks along the railway route in southern Tripura.

After receiving information about the mishap, personnel from the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot and recovered the body.

The body was later sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered an unnatural death case and started a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances behind the incident.

The tragic death has created shock and grief across the locality, with residents demanding improved railway safety measures and stronger precautions to prevent similar train accidents in the future.
