SC category students of Tripura are not getting stipend even after completing BEd course. Many have taken loans to pay their out-of-state college fees.
Almost two years have passed but the stipend has not been received. The students repeatedly protested in the office, but the result was not met.
Although deputation was given to various student organizations in this regard, the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department could not take any decision.
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad submitted a memorandum to the Scheduled Caste Welfare Commissioner .
The student organization also protested in front of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department in Gorkhabasti on this day.
The organization demands that the stipend should be paid to the scheduled students of the state as soon as possible. If not, the movement for rights will be more intense.
ABVP State Secretary Sanjit Saha said that the Minister of Caste Welfare Department will go to Delhi on Tuesday to talk about the issue of stipend. They have also been informed that the stipend payment is being delayed due to software related problems. A commitment has also been made to disburse the stipend as soon as possible.
A few days ago, the left student organization SFI made the same demand. On the other hand, various organizations, including Tiprasa, started agitating for tribal stipend.
