After Verdict Of Kolkata High Court Tripura Govt Employees Are Also Demanding ‘Fundamental Right’ DA

Tripura Government employees are very much delighted as the Calcutta High Court has made clear that Dearness Allowance are a fundamental and legal right of government employees.

This verdict was stated by the bench of Rabindranath Samanta in the Kolkata High Court on Friday. 

Besides, the bench said that before, dearness allowance was often seen as a luxury. But in the current way of increasing prices, dearness allowances are very necessary. Therefore, the state government has to pay the arrears within three months.

Actually Since July 26, 2019, there has been a lot of turmoil over the dearness allowances of west bengal state government employees, and finally it was resolved after almost three years. 

According to the verdict, the court’s verdict has to be implemented within three months, in which case the state government is obliged to pay the arrears. The Kolkata High Court has made it clear that dearness allowance are a legal and fundamental right.

When the controversy escalated to the High Court, the west bengal state government argued that it is not possible to release DA at a high rate due to lack of adequate funds. 

In that case it is very difficult for the state government to give expensive allowance. 

However, the state government’s argument has been rejected by the Kolkata High Court. 

Meanwhile after the verdict of Kolkata High Court government employees of Tripura government also demanding their fundamental right DA.

Asish Roy Chowdhury a senior government employee of the Tripura state government said that:

” There are 31% DA pending of employees working under Tripura government in compare to Central Government employees. Government should consider this matter immediately and release our pending DA”.

Susmita Saha a Group D employee of the Tripura government said:

” earlier it was a system to release DA two time in a year. But now government yet to release DA even a single time in a year”.

Dhiman Das, an ex government employee and a pensioner from Agartala said

” My family still depends on me as my daughter is a divayang. It’s very difficult to run the family. Pension money is my only source of income. If DA released by the government i can take some breath”
