Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will jointly inaugurate a cross border railway project on Wednesday.
The testing of this project has also been completed on Monday.
Officials said the Prime Ministers of the two neighboring countries will launch the Agartala-Akhaura Cross Border Rail Link Project in an online program at 11 am.
The 15 km long rail link (5 km in India and 10 km in Bangladesh) will boost cross-border trade and also reduce travel time from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka.
At present, the train takes 31 hours to reach Kolkata from Agartala, which will reduce to 21 hours after the commencement of this project.
