The court sentenced an accused named Sohail Miah to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for abducting a minor girl and rape.
A fine of Rs 20,000 has also been imposed. West Tripura District Special Judge Shamishta Mukherjee pronounced this verdict on Wednesday.
Referring to the diary of the case, Special PP Pulak Debnath said that the incident took place on July 21, 2019.
A 16-year-old girl from Anandnagar area left for her tutor’s house in the morning and did not returned home.
After searching, the victim’s father came to know that 28-year-old Soheil Miah of Charipara under Amtali police station had abducted his minor girl.
Accused Sohail Miha is married and has two children. Accused Soheil Miah abducted the minor girl and took her to Charilam and had sexual relations with the minor there several times. Police rescued the minor from Charilam and arrested the accused.
A total of 13 people testified for the government in this case.
On Wednesday, the special court sentenced the accused under Section 376 (2) (S) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
