The Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Express rail service from Agartala to Mumbai is going to start from October 15. Also, the new demo train from Agartala to Sabroom and the newly constructed escalator (moving stairs) at Agartala railway station will be inaugurated on that day.
In this regard, North East Frontier Railway General Manager Chetan Kumar Srivastava met Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at the State Civil Secretariat and invited the Chief Minister to attend these three inauguration program .
A meeting was held between the two on various issues including the development of railway infrastructure in the state.
Power Minister Ratanlal Nath was present in the meeting. General Manager of North East Frontier Railway Srivastava informed every thing the Chief Minister in the meeting.
The Kanchanjungha Express train will be extended to Sabroom by November. He also informed the Chief Minister that the work of railway electrification from Badarpur to Sabroom is going on to be completed by March 2024.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha advised the Power Minister Ratanlal Nath to set up power substations at Udaipur and Teliamura railway stations and complete the power transmission line work quickly.
The General Manager of North East Frontier Railway said that Rs 235 crore will be spent to make the Agartala railway station an international railway station.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister said that the Agartala-Guwahati Intercity Express runs once a week. The Chief Minister advised the North East Frontier Railway to take necessary initiatives to further increase this train movement.
The progress of Agartala-Akhaura railway construction was also discussed during the interview.
In this regard, the Chief Minister directed the railway authorities to complete the construction of Nischintapur railway station quickly.
The Chief Minister said that due to the sincere efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the railway communication system of the state has improved tremendously. As a result, currently 12 express trains and 5 local trains are running from the state. Agartala-Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Express will increase the number of express trains to 13. The number of local trains will increase to 7.
