Development of Udaipur, Dharmanagar and Kumarghat railway stations is underway at a cost of Tk 1660 crore under the Amrit Bharat project. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha claimed this in an event organized at Agartala Railway Station.
Kamakhya – Lokmanya Tilak Express train service from Agartala has been launched on Thursday. This express train will run between Agartala and Mumbai directly.
Additional demo train services between Agartala-Sabroom and escalator at Agartala railway station have also been inaugurated on Thursday.
In addition to Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, were present in a program organized at Agartala Railway Station on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said that:
The people of Tripura have been demanding for extending the service of Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilak Express train to Agartala for a long time. On the eve of this puja, the railway ministry has extended the service of Kamakhya Lokmanya Tilak Express to Agartala according to the demand.
Also one more demo train service between Agartala and Sabroom has been started from today as per the approval of the Ministry of Railways.
The Kamakhya-Lokamanya Tilak train will leave for Mumbai at 6 am every Thursday from Agartala. The train will reach Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. The train will leave Mumbai again on Sunday morning at 7:30 am. Will reach Agartala on Tuesday.
The development work of Udaipur, Dharmanagar and Kumarghat railway stations is going on at the cost of Rs 1660 crore under the Amrit Bharat project. A DPR of Rs 235.45 crore has been submitted for upgrading the Agartala railway station to an international standard station. Escalators have also been inaugurated at Agartala station. Agartala-Akhaura railway which will connect Kolkata via Dhaka is also progressing at a fast pace.
Tripura government has submitted a demand to the Ministry of Railways to extend the services of Tripureswari Express and Kanchanjungha Express to Sabroom with stop at Udaipur and Bilonia. The extension of Lokmanya Tilak Kamakhya train will benefit the people of North Eastern region including Tripura and even Bangladesh in terms of medical, education and business.
