Tripura Food Department explains the surveillance story. But in the meantime, the black marketers are looting the buyers. Due to which the price of onion in the state doubled within 15 days.
The price of onion, which was sold at the rate of Rs 30 to 35 per kg before Shardotsav, was sold at Rs 70 on Tuesday in various markets in Agartala. Everything from potatoes to rice has increased by Rs 10 to Rs 12 per kg during this period.
Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a press conference with the top officials of the Food Department on the eve of Sharadotsav and said that there is enough food stock in the state. Adequate stocks of everything from rice to potatoes to onions are reported.
But within 15 days the price of that onion doubled in the state.
