Agt-Chittagong Air Fare To Be Rs 4000-4500: Tripura Transport Minister

Tripura Transport Minister Sushant Chowdhury said that air service will be started from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala to Chittagong Bangladesh very soon. SpiceJet will fly on that route.

Transport Minister said that the Maharaja Bir Vikram Airport will get the status of an international airport only after the Chittagong route is launched.

He also said that the air fare from Agartala to Chittagong to be from Rs 4000 to Rs 4,500. He said this at the inauguration ceremony of IDTR (Institute of Driving Training and Research) in Jirinia.

Agartala airport has already been upgraded. There are state-of-the-art terminals. Around 1200 passengers can stay there during peak hours.

Transport minister Chowdhury said, “We want to start air traffic from here to Chittagong as soon as possible. The Tripura government is talking to the Central Civil Aviation Ministry about this.”

He said that discussions are also going on about which other countries can start air traffic with Agartala. Economic and other benefits of Tripura will increase only if this air connectivity is opened. Apart from this, if the rail service starts between Agartala and Akhaura, more communication routes will be opened with Bangladesh.
