Bangladesh Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that the new railway line from Akhaura to Agartala, under construction between Bangladesh and India, will be operational by June 2023.
Nurul Islam Sujan said, “Akhaura-Agartala railway connection is very important for both countries. If this line is opened, trade between the two countries will expand. Besides, people will be able to travel easily between the two countries.”
The Railway Minister of Bangladesh told reporters this at the Zero Point area adjacent to Agartala on Sunday (December 11).
In response to a question, he said, “Most of the work has been completed. The remaining work is expected to be completed before June.”
Akhaura-Agartala railway project is being implemented with Indian grant. The overall progress of the project is 67 percent. The length of the Bangladesh section from Agartala to Akhaura is 6.8 kilometers.
