Anantnag Gunfight: Army Colonel, Major, DSP Of J&K Police killed

On Wednesday (September 13) in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, three soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country while fighting against terrorists. 

Among the martyred soldiers, two are army officers and one is from Jammu and Kashmir Police. 

Indian Army officer said that in the encounter with terrorists in Anantnag, Colonel and Major of the Army, and DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police have made the supreme sacrifice for the country. 

Terrorist organization TRF has taken the responsibility of Anantnag encounter.

He said that Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit commanding Colonel Manpreet Singh, RR Major Ashish and Jammu and Kashmir Police Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhatt were seriously injured in the firing. All three attained martyrdom during treatment. 

The officer said that the operation against terrorists in Gadole area had started on Tuesday evening, but it was called off at night. 

The search for terrorists started again on Wednesday morning when information was received that they had been seen at a hideout. 

Colonel Singh led his team from the front and attacked the terrorists. However, the terrorists opened fire on them. Special forces have been deployed to eliminate the terrorists present in the area. It is being told that 3 to 4 terrorists are present there. The search operation here will continue throughout the night. 

Major Ashish was originally a resident of Binjhaul village of Panipat, Haryana. At present his family lives in a rented house in Sector-7 of Panipat. 

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the martyrdom of soldiers. She wrote on Twitter, “My deepest condolences to the families of the soldiers martyred in the line of duty in Anantnag today. There is no place for such despicable acts of violence.”

Commander of the Army’s Northern Command, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, has said on Wednesday, “Pakistan is trying its best to infiltrate foreign terrorists into the region to hinder the progress in the internal security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. ” 

Expressing grief over the martyrdom of three soldiers, Union Minister and former Army Chief General VK Singh said, “Sena Medal awardee Colonel Manpreet Singh attained martyrdom while fighting terrorists in Anantnag, Kashmir. The country is shocked by this sad news. Paying tribute to the martyrdom of Martyr Colonel Manpreet Singh, I pray to God to provide strength to his family in this difficult time.” 

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on Twitter, “Our brave army personnel and a DSP have made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in the encounter in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. We are deeply saddened by this loss. Our brave hearts Our deepest condolences. India stands united against terrorism.” 

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter, “A very terrible news is coming. An Army Colonel, a Major and a Jammu and Kashmir Police DySP made the supreme sacrifice in an encounter in Kokernag area of ​​South Kashmir. DSP Humayun Bhatt, Major Ashish and Colonel Manpreet Singh lost their lives in the encounter with terrorists. May their souls rest in peace and give strength to their loved ones in this difficult time.”
