Annual Increment Of Employees: Tripura Govt To Form Committee

The government has decided to set up a committee of senior officials of the Finance Department to investigate the anomalies arising in the payment of annual increment to a large section of government employees.

Official sources said that while restructuring the salary structure of the employees in 2017, the then Left Front government had deprived the employees of the salary hike.

“Employees who were entitled for increment between the months of January and June were given their entitlement in the month of July only, thereby depriving them of increment for six months. On the other hand, employees who had their salary increment reduced between July and December got a salary hike in 2016 and got a salary hike again in the following July month.”

Citing examples, sources said that there are employees who got salary hike in December and then again in July next year.

This created a huge discrepancy resulting in many junior employees getting more benefits than the seniors.

The state government has already taken initiative to remove this discrepancy. The Finance Department has already circulated a format to collect information about employees whose salary increment dates fall between the months of January and July.

This will help in removing the anomaly on pay hike and will also benefit retired employees or pensioners as many of them had retired from service without the benefit of a pay hike.
