“Agartala’s MBB Airport is the busiest and most beautiful airport among North Eastern states. Apart from domestic and foreign tourists, many citizens travel through this airport every day. Prepaid auto drivers must have a cordial relationship with the passengers on board. Only then will the reputation of the state increase among tourists and citizens of the country and abroad”
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this while distributing uniforms to prepaid autorickshaw drivers at the new terminal building of MBB Airport on Thursday.
The program is organized by the Department of Transport. 248 prepaid auto drivers were given this uniform on the occasion. The target is to provide uniforms to 300 prepaid auto drivers. This uniform will be given every year before Durga Puja.
In the program , the Transport Minister also said that the development of the tourism industry depends on the transport services.
In the program , the transport minister said that uniforms are being given to prepaid auto drivers to identify their involvement in airport passenger transport.
The transport minister also said that twenty planes land at MBB airport every day. Twenty planes goes back. In the future, this airport will become an international airport.
He said, 6 Apda Mitras have been appointed at the airport for the safety of passengers. He said the government will arrange health insurance for prepaid auto drivers.
Uttam Kumar Chakma, Secretary of the Department of Transport delivered the welcome address on the occasion. He said that 9 taxi drivers have been given commercial permits to operate taxis from MBB Airport.
