Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Tripura Arif Mohammad visited Bilonia.
He was welcomed by Bilonia Municipal Councilors Anupam Chakraborty and Babul Bhowmik and others .
After that, the Assistant High Commissioner visited Mahurighat Inter-Custom Trade Centre.
After the visit, the Assistant High Commissioner met the Bilonia Custom Officer in his room and discussed for some time.
He left the Bilonia custom office and went straight to the Bangladesh custom office. There he also spoke with the Bangladesh Land Port officials and again went to Bilonia via Mahuri Ghat Inter- Trade Centre.
Speaking with the press he said “the existing highway connecting Tripura’s Belonia to Bangladesh’s Feni district would soon be converted into a four lane road in order to further boost the movement of passengers and goods through the historic town”.
“The trade relations between India and Bangladesh have only seen improvement in the last several decades. In the days to come, new avenues of trade are opening between Tripura and Bangladesh. The Maitri Setu is all set for traffic movement. The railway link has also come into operation. And, the contract has been awarded to the construction agency to convert the existing road between Belonia and Feni into a world class four lane road” he added.
