Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Offered India To Use Chittagong, Sylhet Ports: Report

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has offered India the use of the country’s ports in Chittagong and Sylhet, saying it will boost connectivity and people-to-people contact in the region. 

Chittagong port is an important strategic location due to its proximity to the north-eastern states of India.

A leading newspaper in Dhaka quoted Prime Minister Hasina as saying, India can use our Chittagong and Sylhet ports if it wants. 

Prime Minister Hasina said that this step will enhance regional connectivity and people-to-people contact. 

Hasina also wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her conversation with Ram Madhav of the India Foundation, the report said.

Madhav appreciated the socio-economic progress in Bangladesh under the leadership of Hasina. 

The report quoted him as saying, “Bangladesh and India have good friendship as neighboring countries and hope that this relationship will continue in the future as well”.
