Bhupendra Patel Took Oath As CM of Gujarat For The 2nd Time

Bhupendra Patel took oath as Chief Minister of Gujarat for the second time today. Along with Bhupendra Patel, 16 others have taken oath as ministers. The swearing-in was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states.

Bhupendra Patel was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Saturday. Patel defeated his rival in Ghatlodia seat by a margin of 1.92 lakh votes. Patel got the command of the state after the resignation of Vijay Rupani in September last year. 

The more interesting this Gujarat election has been, the more interesting is the political journey of Bhupendra Patel. 

Bhupendra Patel, born on 15 July 1962, has studied engineering. His father’s name is Rajinikanth and mother’s name is Hetal Patel. He has a brother named Ketan Patel. People affectionately call Bhupendra Patel ‘Dada’. 

While PM Modi calls him Makkam (Adig) and Mridu CM. Bhupendra Patel, who belongs to the Kadva Patidar community, remained a builder after taking a diploma in engineering. He has been associated with the RSS. 

His political journey started from the year 1995. He contested the election of the member of Memnagar Municipality and was victorious. His victory chariot continued in 1999 and 2004 as well. During this period he was also the chairman of the municipality. From 2008 to 2010, he was the Vice President of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. 

Between 2015 and 2017, handled the work of the chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Board. The election of the year 2017 brought a new turn in his career. He entered the election arena from Ghatlodia, the seat of former CM Anandiben Patel, and won a bumper victory by 1.17 lakh votes. 

With the style of his work, he has created his own image in front of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Both the leaders have faith in Patel. He is considered close to former CM Anandiben Patel. 

Anandiben Patel is said to have been his political mentor. 

During his 15-month tenure as CM, Bhupendra Patel had got bulldozers running while taking strict action on illegal constructions in Porbandar. PM Modi also could not live without praising him. 

Bhupendra Patel is fond of cricket and badminton. He was also seen breaking the protocol and drinking tea among the people. 

According to the affidavit, he has assets worth 22 lakhs. There is no land. There is land worth Rs 16 lakh 30 thousand in the name of the wife. His son’s name is Anuj Patel and daughter-in-law’s name is Devanshi.   

Notably BJP has won 156 out of 183 seats in Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022.
