Big Racket Behind 11 Girls Trafficked From Bru Camp Rescued In Tripura: Report

The recent detection of eleven young and minor girls of Reang refugee camps of North District in the Inter State Bus Terminus at Agartala has created serious reaction across the state and sources in Kanchanpur indicated that a major racket is working for trafficking of minor and young girls frim the camps, reportedly. At least one thousand and five hundred girls frim these camps are now working in various massage parlours in different cities of the country and many of them are forced to serve in sex parlours. It is also learnt that the large number of girls are absent in the refugee camps but ration in their names is being issued every day. The officials also not aware about who are taking the ration and cash dole in the name of these absent girls. Police officials also have reports about sending of girls from refugee camps to various North and South Indian cities but the OC of Kanchanpur PS said that they have never received any complain in this matter. Abhiram Debbarma an officer of the Refugee Relief Department also aware that ration is being drawn in the name of a large number of absent girls and said in investigation is going on in this regard. Notable that Tripura police have rescued 11 tribal girls, suspected to be trafficked, and detained a man in this connection. Police said that they were brought to Agartala from tribal refugee camps in northern Tripura. According to a police officer, the rescued tribal girls are now at the NGO Child Line’s home, who had helped the police in their rescue operation of these girls, two of whom are 18-years-old and others below 18 years of age. Police officials, probing the incident, have asked the parents of the children to meet them and provide details about their daughters.
