“BJP violating the election model code of conduct right from the beginning due to the indifference of the administration in the by-elections of two assembly constituencies in Sonamura”
Alleging this CPI(M) Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury has demanded action in to the entire issue by drawing the attention of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state.
Notably by-elections in two Assembly Constituencies are going to be held on September 5.
Ratan Kumar Saha, CPIM Sonamura divisional secretary of the party, has written to the returning officer.
Also, Sonamura CPI(M) MLA Shyamal Chakraborty informed the SDM and SDPO and demanded action.
According to the details of the incident, every year various political parties go to the gate of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office while submitting their nomination papers to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate or the Returning Officer in various elections.
From there the candidates submit the nomination paper to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
But this year, barricades were made in front of Sonamura Municipal Council and on the other side up to Kanthalia Choumuhani as a restricted area. As a result, the Left Front candidate marched on Wednesday, but the march was stopped before the restricted area.
From there, two Left Front candidates went to R.O. along with the proposer and submitted their nomination papers.
BJP candidates are scheduled to submit their nominations on Thursday.
But surprisingly, on Wednesday afternoon, it was seen that the BJP was setting up a stage inside the restricted area of the barricade. This has created a strong reaction among the common party workers.
Because according to the law, all political parties should have equal opportunities in the elections. Even though the election rules are broken in front of the eyes of the administration, the administration plays an indifferent role. This is what the CPI(M) sees.
State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury reported the entire incident to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punit Agarwal.
He asked the CEO to stop this ‘illegal act’ of BJP. He also said to ensure that all political parties get equal opportunity in the elections.
CPI (M) Sonamura sub-divisional secretary Ratan Kumar Saha has written a letter condemning the incident and drawing the attention of the returning officer.
He demanded necessary action in the letter. At the same time MLA Shyamal Chakraborty informed the SDPO and SDM about the entire incident.
