The central government on Wednesday issued a notification for the academic session 2024-25 under the new education policy.
According to which, now the 10th and 12th board exams will be conducted twice a year.
The student having higher marks in both the exams will be counted.
Apart from this, students of 11th and 12th will have to study two languages. One of these should be an Indian language.
However, students will be free to choose the subject. There will be no restriction on them based on the stream they choose.
The Ministry of Education said that the books are also being changed for the academic session 2024. Heavy syllabus will no longer be kept in the books. The prices of books will also be reduced.
The new syllabus will be prepared keeping in mind the New Education Policy-2020.
In which the school board will be able to demand for on-demand exam after completion of the course.
The objective behind these changes is to assess students’ understanding and achievement, instead of preparing for board exams for months.
The new education policy was approved in July 2020. It was approved by the cabinet on 29 July 2020.
In this, attention has been given to many issues like equality, quality in education policy. The government has set a target of spending 6% of GDP on the new education policy with the cooperation of the Center and the State.
The education policy was made 34 years ago i.e. in 1986, before the new education policy came. Till 2020, changes were being made only in that.
