Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin today.
The two leaders reviewed progress on a number of issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on global issues, including the recently concluded BRICS Summit in Johannesburg. In addition, President Putin has expressed his inability to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi on 9-10 September 2023, according to the PMO. He told that Russia will be represented by the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov.
According to the information, during this conversation, Vladimir Putin once again congratulated Narendra Modi on the successful landing of the Indian space station Chandrayaan-3 near the south pole of the Moon.
They reaffirmed their desire to further develop bilateral cooperation in space exploration.
In this telephonic conversation between Putin and PM Modi, the outcomes of the XV BRICS Summit in Fjörhausen were discussed.
At the same time, the importance of the agreements reached was emphasized, primarily, the expansion of BRICS, which would undoubtedly contribute to the growth of its influence in international affairs.
Both sides agreed to maintain close dialogue in the context of the BRICS Chairmanship of Russia starting from January 1, 2024. Both the leaders also shared their views regarding the G20 Summit to be held in New Delhi.
In addition, topical issues of Russian-Indian relations, which have been continuously developing in the spirit of special and privileged strategic partnership, were discussed.
The positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation were underlined. Reciprocal commitment was made to the continued implementation of large-scale projects in the energy sector and joint work on the expansion of international transport and logistics infrastructure.
