Central paramilitary personnel arriving for election duty in Tripura will be screened if they show symptoms of COVID-19.
A senior health department official gave this information on Friday.
Around 300 companies of central forces will be deployed for election related duties in the state.
Assembly elections are due in Tripura in February next year.
Tripura Health Secretary Debashish Bose said PTI on Friday, “We have received an advisory from the central government in view of the sudden increase in Covid-19 cases in some countries. The state is following the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs”
He said that by issuing guidelines from the department, the administration has been asked to conduct COVID-19 test for the security personnel coming from outside the state for election duty.
He said, “Corona virus test will be done for the jawans if they are found suffering from Covid-19 symptoms. This tests can be done at railway stations, DM and SDM offices.
