Giving a big relief to the general public, the Central Government on Saturday reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs.8 and Rs.6 respectively.
After this, the price of petrol will be reduced by Rs 9.5 per liter and that of diesel by Rs 7 per liter.
Apart from this, the central government announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per gas cylinder (up to 12 cylinders) to more than 9 crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that this will help our mothers and sisters.
The costliest petrol in the country was Rs 123.46 per liter in Parbhani in Maharashtra, while diesel at Rs 107.61 per liter in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
At the same time, the cheapest petrol in Port Blair was Rs 91.45 and diesel was Rs 85.83 per liter.
Now after the reduction in excise duty, the prices of petrol and diesel will be reduced across the country.
