Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to PM Modi on October 22, accusing the Central Government of misusing the country’s government machinery.
Kharge wrote in a two-page letter –
Apart from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Income Tax Department and the CBI are already working as the election department of the BJP, but the government’s order of October 18 has put the entire government machinery on such work. As if they are agents of the ruling party. To protect democracy and the Constitution, it is necessary that bureaucracy and armed forces should not be politicized.
A letter issued by the government on October 18, which was related to posting of high rank senior officers like Joint Secretary, Director and Deputy Secretary in 765 districts of India . Is. Kharge wrote- He will be deployed as ‘Rath Prabhari’ to promote the achievements of the government in the last 9 years. This is a matter of concern for many reasons.
This is a violation of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964. In which instructions have been given that no government employee will be involved in any political activity. While it is acceptable for government officials to disseminate information to showcase achievements, it turns them into political operatives of the ruling party.
The officials are being deployed to publicize the work of the last 9 years of the government. This may also impact the assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections to be held in five states. If senior officers of departments are being deployed for marketing activity of the government, then the functioning of the country will come to a standstill for the next 6 months.
Kharge also cited the order passed by the Defense Ministry on October 9, in which soldiers on leave were directed to spend time in promoting government schemes.
He said that if a soldier has gone home after many months or years of hard work, he has the right to spend his leave freely.
“Their holidays should not be misused for political purposes. Both civil servants and soldiers should be kept away from politics, especially in the months before elections. This order should be withdrawn immediately” he writes.
On the other hand reacting to Kharge’s letter, BJP President JP Nadda said – I am strange what problem the Congress party has with the public servants who take the schemes to the people. This is the basic principle of governance, doesn’t Congress know about it?
