The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Tuesday (August 29) through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) said that the presence of sulfur in the south pole of the Moon has been confirmed through the payload on the rover. With this, the Indian Space Agency told that the search for hydrogen is going on on the spot.

ISRO said in its post, “In-situ (in situ) scientific experiments are in progress. For the first time through in-situ measurements, the instrument ‘Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope’ (LIBS) on the rover has clearly detected the South Pole. The pass confirms the presence of sulfur (S) in the lunar surface. Al, Ca, Fe, Cr, Ti, Mn, Si, and O are detected as expected. The search for Hydrogen (H) is on.”

ISRO has said that this payload named LIBS has been developed at ISRO’s Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS) in Bengaluru.
