The CPIM led Left Front MLAs have demanded an inquiry into the horrific Kumarghat chariot tragedy by a judge working in the High Court.
CPIM MLA Jitendra Choudhury strongly raised this demand on behalf of the Left Front legislators in the Assembly session on Monday.
Left MLAs alleged discussion have been blocked by the government regarding the horrific accident in which 8 people were killed and 26 injured in the Ulta Rath Yatra in Kumarghat.
Meanwhile the speaker rejected an adjournment motion of Left Front MLA Dipankar Sen. The legislators of all the opposition parties, including the Left Front, have expressed their anger.
Dipankar Sen asked the speaker why his adjournment proposal was rejected. On the other hand, he moved an adjournment motion demanding judicial investigation of the chariot tragedy, government job to one of the family members of the victims, medical treatment and financial assistance to the injured.
Speaker did not give any opportunity to raise it. The speaker argued that the adjournment proposal cannot be brought in the budget session. He suggested to discuss the matter in the budget speech.
Left Front, Congress and Tipra MLAs protested this suggestion of the speaker. Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma said that many people were burned to death in front of their eyes in the crowd on the street. Why did this happen? Whose negligence caused such a big accident? Who was the “Dwara Singh” forced the chariot to change its route? Why will this “Dwara Singh” not be traced?
The opposition leader wants to know these things. He also demanded a judicial investigation for this.
Left Front parliamentary party leader Jitendra Choudhury said that such a terrible accident with an ulta rath is unacceptable. How many people died? How many people are crippled for life. Before the Rath Yatra incident in Kumarghat, there were also accidents in Melaghar, Udaipur earlier. People want to know how the Kumarghat incident happened.
For this reason, Jitendra Choudhury demanded that a judge working in the High Court investigate this incident.
He also demanded a government job for one of the family members of the victims and better treatment for the injured.
However in absence of the Chief Minister, law Minister Ratanlal Nath was seen repeatedly standing up and speaking in this issue.
Nath said that the Chief Minister has already ordered an DM level investigation of this Kumarghat Chariot tragedy .
After the report of this investigation, if no one is satisfied, then the matter can be discussed later, said the minister.
