Chinese Encroachment In Arunachal: Opposition Stages Walk Out From RS

The opposition staged a walkout in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday for not allowing a discussion on the Chinese encroachment in the Arunachal Pradesh border and announced a boycott of the proceedings of the House.

Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar called the leaders of the house and the opposition at 1 pm.

But Mallikarjun Kharge refused saying that the discussion should happen in the House and the whole country should see it.

However, he also said that the intention of the opposition is not to embarrass the Speaker, but to raise the issue.

Amid heated debate, the Speaker said that he would not allow the dais to be misused.

Chairman Dhankhar repeatedly requested Kharge to persuade the members to take their seats.

The agitated opposition members kept on chanting “we want a discussion”. The ruckus broke out after the Speaker rejected the notice given by the opposition members under Rule 267 on the issue.

Earlier, the Leaders of the Opposition in the House held a morning meeting. And decided to press for discussion on this issue in the House. Opposition alleges that government is hiding some facts, hence avoiding debate.
