CITU Shows Strength In Agartala On 16-Point Demands

Leaders of CITU Tripura State Committee holds rally on 16-point demands, including increase in wages, work, food, employment of retrenched workers and stop attack.

The leaders of CITU Tripura State Committee organized this huge rally in city Agartala.

Former chief minister and CPIM politburo member Manik Sarkar, CITU Tripura Secretary former minister Manik Dey, former MP Shankar Prasad Dutta, CPIM Tripura Secretary Jitendra Choudhury and leaders of various labor organizations were present in the rally.

Speaking in the rally Politburo Member Manik Sarkar said:

In 2024, if all political parties and common people do not start a massive movement against the evil forces that are the enemies of the countrymen, anti-people and protectors of the interests of the exploiters, there will be no success in obtaining the economic demands. Therefore, the current government must be ousted from the country.  

CITU State Secretary Shankar Prasad Dutta said that they were supposed to place a deputation to the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today. But as the chief minister is busy with by-elections, they will place deputation later. 

On this day, this rally takes different routes. A street meeting was held at the end of the procession.

 Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that democracy is in danger during the tenure of the current government. The office of the labor union cannot be opened. Miscreants are organizing attacks on labor unions. 

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also said that the state government has to play an important role in implementing the 16-point demands mentioned in the charters. 

Speaking on this day, he strongly criticized the BJP-led government at the Centre.  Sarkar also said that in this state the government is running in Delhi’s direction. So they work against people’s interest from the beginning going on.

 He said this government does not care about the working class people. Thinking only about corporate bodies. The workers’ demands are all very relevant to the present times.

The state government cannot turn a blind eye to these demands. And this courage cannot contain it. So it all depends on the vision of the state government, Said Manik Sarkar. 

CPIM state secretary Jitendra Choudhury was present in the road meeting. While speaking, he said that there is no such system for the farmers during the current government. Due to which the condition of farmers are critical. Mandal and Morcha leaders are looting all the allocations scattered in various departments. REGA, TUEP everywhere looting of mandals and morchas is on. 

There is no one to monitor or take notice of this matter. Such a terrible situation is going on in the state of Tripura’ said Choudhury. 

CITU State President Manik Dey, Secretary Shankar Prasad Dutta addressed the meeting on this day. 

Former minister Tapan Chakraborty and other former Left MLAs were present un the rally.
