On Monday, the Chief Minister of Tripura handed over the Scholarship of the ‘Lakshya’ scheme to several youths at his official residence.

These include Joy Debnath of Shantir Bazar, Victor Debbarma of Krishnanagar Agartala and Jyotisman Chakma of Abhaynagar Agartala.

On this occasion Chief Minister said, Candidates residing in Tripura to come under this scheme are given scholarships to clear civil service examinations conducted by UPSC. Rs 5 lakhs if a candidate pass the preliminary exam in the first stage and Rs 20 thousand if the candidate pass the main exam in the second stage. For this the candidate must be a permanent resident of Tripura to face the civil services exam conducted by UPSC.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed the hope that the candidates will be more motivated in such examinations through this way.

The top administrative level officers in the state are mainly recruited through the Central Civil Services and Tripura Civil Services Examinations.

Through the IAS examination, these officers are also working in various ministries of the central government. They are recruited through Central Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC.

Other Central Group A and Group B officers including IAS, IFS and IPS are also recruited through this examination.

But limited number of candidates from Tripura state can crack central civil services exams.

Hence, the government of Tripura has taken up a scheme to provide Scholarship called ‘Lakshya’ to encourage the youths of the state to appear in the central civil services examinations conducted by UPSC.

In 2019, this scheme called ‘Lakshya’ was launched by the present government.
