Tripura government starts sero-survey from today. Collecting samples of blood from identified 30 clusters survey to conduct. Test will be in Agartala Government Medical College microbiology laboratory. “Total 160 blood samples would be collected from per cluster” said an official of microbiology department, AGMC to THE TRIPURA POST. Blood samples collection to be completed by 17th of this month. There will be three phase Antibody Test. In first phase test will be of common people. Health and Security personals antibody test will be conduct in second phase. In third phase covid patient’s antibody test will be conduct. The clinical utility of antibody tests is multidimensional. Indian Council of Medical Research has recommended that sero-surveys are conducted in 17 segments of “vulnerable” population who are at high risk of contracting infection. A prominent example of this category of people could be health care staff and front line workers, industry workers, security staff, police staff, etc. The Roche antibody assay is widely used in global sero-surveys, mass testing and employee testing protocols in many countries including Singapore (migrant worker testing), UK (health care worker testing) and Switzerland (corporate worker testing). Other countries’ health authorities that are using Roche assay for public testing include US, Indonesia, Myanmar, etc. Sero-surveys may answer, What percentage of the general population has been infected by the virus? Who are at a higher risk of getting infected? What are the areas where containment efforts need to be strengthened?
