Condition Of Former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Remains Critical

The condition of former Bengal CM and veteran CPM leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee still remains critical. 

CPIM leader Bhattacharya is on mechanical ventilation. 

Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was admitted to the ICU of a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday (July 29) due to difficulty in breathing. He is 79 years old. 

Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was admitted to Woodlands Hospital on Saturday (July 29) at around 4 pm. 

The former Chief Minister is on 100 percent ventilation support. Food is being given to Buddhadev Bhattacharya with the help of ryles tube. 

According to Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital, his overall condition remains critical, but stable.


According to the medical and health bulletin of the hospital, high dose antibiotics are being given to the former CM due to lung infection. Kidneys are also affected when creatinine levels are higher than normal. 

CPIM leader Suryakant Misrar claims that the situation has improved slightly as compared to yesterday. 

LOP Suvendu Adhikari went to Woodlands Hospital to meet ailing Buddhadeb on Sunday afternoon. 

In the year 2021, former Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya got infected with Kovid-19. 

Former chief minister Buddhadeb succeeded Jyoti Basu as chief minister in November 2000 and held the position till 2011, when the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress came to power in the state, ending 34 years of Left Front rule.

His health condition was going bad since days. However, at that time he refused to accept the doctor’s advice for hospitalisation.
