Veteran actor soumitra chatterjee who has been admitted at Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic for the last 19 days, has stopped responding to treatment, reports news agency PTI. According to the news agency, the doctors said that medical practitioners are ‘evaluating the patient’s current condition’. “He is also not responding to treatment and his platelet count has dropped further in the last 24 hours, doctors said, adding, “His organs like lungs and heart are working well and his blood pressure is normal but his consciousness is a cause of concern. His condition is very critical “. The actor’s age and comorbidities are a matter of concern for the doctors. After shifting him out of COVID ICU he was recovering well and his consciousness was better too. The doctors were also giving him music therapy. The Dada Saheb Phalke award-winning actor had completed a series in the last week of September and was shooting for Parambrata Chattopadhyay’s film, Abhijaan. He had also been filming his biopic and a documentary on his life for the last one month. Chatterjee is the first Indian film personality to be conferred with Legion of Honour, France’s highest civilian award in 2018. He was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Ratna. He received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s top film honour, in 2012. He has bagged three National Awards for his performances in films like Antardhan, Dekha and Padokkhep.
