The Covid 19 expert committee comprising senior doctors on Friday appealed to the people not to fall prey to misinformation being spread by some people pertaining to the death of an eleven-month-old baby at Telaimura’s Mungiakami.
Speaking on the issue, senior Pedetrecian Dr. Sanjib Debbarma said that the vaccines were completely safe and internationally accepted for lactating mothers and pregnant women.
” The baby died two days after the mother received a vaccine jab. It was a mere coincidence. As per the scientific studies, the Covid 19 vaccines not only protect the mother but also creates a protective shield surrounding the baby on breastfeeding.
The antibodies developed in mother’s body later got transferred to the infant’s body making its immune system strong against the virus”, said Debbarma.
Dr. Tapan Majumder and Dr. Subrata Baidya also said that the baby died of a fever she was suffering for a week.
“She was admitted to the hospital but due to late arrival nothing could be done”, said the doctors refuting its links with the mother’s inoculation.
