Defense Ministry Approved Procurement Of Military Hardware Worth Rs 45,000 Cr

Defense Acquisition Council has approved nine capital acquisition proposals worth approximately Rs 45 thousand crore. 

The council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. To achieve the goal of ‘Self-reliant India’, all these purchases will be made from Indian vendors.

The Council gave approval for procurement of Light Armored Multipurpose Vehicles and Integrated Surveillance System. This includes deployment of cannon and radar .

The Defense Acquisition Council also approved the procurement of next generation survey ships for the Navy. 

Procurement of indigenously developed short-range air-to-surface missile – Dhruvastra has been approved. 12 Sukhoi-30 with equipment belonging to Hindustan Aeronautics LimitedApproval was given for the purchase of aircraft.

In the meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that now the time has come to move rapidly towards indigenization. 

He said that instead of the limit of 50 per cent indigenous content for indigenously designed, developed and built projects, a minimum of 60 to 65 per cent indigenous content should be targeted
