Dengue, Chikungunya Spreading: Tripura Health Department, AMC Holds Workshop

Dengue and chikungunya spreading in Tripura. According to the statistics, in the last two and a half years, 425 dengue and 38 chikungunya cases have been found in the state.

In addition, Japanese encephalitis germs were found in the body of 39 people.

Experts believe that this number will be much higher according to the private survey.

A workshop was held at the conference hall of Agartala Municipal Corporation by the initiative of the health department.

According to the Health Department, in 2021, dengue was found in 349 people, chikungunya in 20 people and Japanese encephalitis in 25 people.

In 2022, dengue was found in 56 people, chikungunya in 17 people and Japanese encephalitis in 14 people.

So far in 2023, out of 20 dengue and 1 chikungunya have been diagnosed in the state. However there is no death reported till now.

The workshop discusses the symptoms of dengue and its harmful aspects. In the meeting, various departments including AMC , various municipal bodies, Nagar Panchayat and Three tier Panchayat were informed about dengue.

The theme of this year’s National Dengue Day is to use everyone’s partnership to defeat dengue.

In this workshop it has only been said that awareness should be created among people about dengue and what can be done to get rid of dengue.

At the workshop, Deputy Mayor of AMC Manika Das Dutta said that the government is trying to prevent dengue. To protect people from various mosquito-borne diseases including dengue, people should be made more aware through mass campaigns.

About two thousand people die in the world every year due to dengue disease. The prevalence of dengue can be observed in various cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore in India.
