Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s plane made an emergency landing at Guwahati International Airport on Wednesday night.
Shah was supposed to arrive to Agartala, but the plane could not land at the MBB airport Agartala due to dense fog.
ATC sources said that after this the aircraft was diverted towards Guwahati International Airport, where it landed safely.
Shah will flag off BJP’s ‘Rath Yatra’ in Tripura today i.e Thursday.
The eight-day yatra would begin from Thursday from Dharmanagar in North Tripura district.
Amit Shah will also participate in a rally in Sabroom in South Tripura district. The Rath Yatra has been named ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’.
BJP President JP Nadda will attend the concluding day program of the yatra on January 12.
It is also being told that Union Minister Smriti Irani will also participate in it. The preparations for the ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ have almost been completed on Wednesday.
Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya said the party is expected to connect with around 10 lakh people during the ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’.
It will cover all the 60 assembly constituencies of the state. 200 rallies and more than 100 processions will be organized to highlight the welfare activities of the central and state governments.
He said that the main objective of the yatra is to show the development work done by the BJP government since 2018.
It is noteworthy that in the last assembly elections, the BJP won a historic victory by defeating the decades-old CPIM government in its stronghold.
The BJP, along with its ally IPFT, formed a government with absolute majority by winning 43 seats in the 60-member Tripura Assembly. BJP won 35 seats and IPFT won 8 seats.
