Depression Has Taken The Form Of Serious Problem In The Country

Recently, concern has been expressed over the increasing depression and suicide tendency among the students of fifty-five universities of the country.

Some youths are facing this problem fast because even after completing their education, they do not see any better way to live their life.

Concern has been raised for a long time about the increasing trend of stress, depression and then suicide among the youth.

Several measures have been suggested to prevent this. Efforts are made to continuously create awareness to relieve stress.

Help and advice centers have been opened at various places. Nevertheless, overcoming this problem is a challenge.

The most worrying situation is that the doctors through whom it is expected to overcome conditions like depression, they themselves are seen committing suicide by suffering from this problem.

According to the latest statistics, between 2010 and 2020, 350 medical students, resident doctors and physicians committed suicide.

The Indian Medical Congress has expressed concern about this and has advised doctors and hospital management to create a positive environment in this matter.

The major reason behind increasing depression among doctors is the increasing work pressure and stress on them.

Analyzing doctors who committed suicide revealed that they were highly intelligent, had the sharpest minds, but had poor mental health. They could excel in their professional life.

According to medical science, depression often catches people early, who are extra sensitive, often intelligent and have poor mental health. Such people are in great need of social support.

But it is surprising that despite being in the medical profession, people are not able to identify this problem. It cannot be assumed that the symptoms of depression would not have been noticed by the people around them.

Now it is not even a hidden fact that often the mental balance of the youth deteriorates under the pressure of studies, exams and work.

That is why parents and teachers are advised to pay special attention to the students at the time of examination etc.

Efforts are made to provide them an environment full of love and encouragement. It is surprising that people associated with medical science are also showing the same indifference towards any of their suffering colleague or classmate in this matter, as the common people of the society are seen.

It is a good thing that the Indian Medical Congress has taken the initiative to run a comprehensive vigilance campaign regarding this.

Depression has taken the form of a serious problem in our country. Especially the youth get caught in it very quickly, because the pressure on them to be top in studies and profession etc. has increased. Their ambitions are also big. Parents and society are happy to see them topper, they also give their example, but they often fail to assess their mental health.

As a result of this, even on minor failures, many youths go into deep depression and gradually become suicidal.

Recently, concern was expressed over the increasing depression and suicide tendency among the students of fifty-five universities of the country.

Some youths are facing this problem fast because even after completing their education, they do not see any better way to live their life. In such a situation, there is a need to study various aspects of this problem affecting the youth and consider practical measures.
