Four Rohingyas and a two-year-old minor girl child with them, has been detained at Teliamura railway station under Khowai district of Tripura while they were on their way to Bengaluru.
Talking to the reporters, a police personnel said that based on information about the arrival of Agartala-Dharmanagar local train at Teliamura railway station, Tripura Police, Railway Police and BSF jointly conducted a search operation in the train and arrested four suspicious persons.
“During preliminary interrogation they have said that they are Rohingyas. Among them there were three men, one woman and a minor girl” said police.
The police personnel said they crossed the border illegally to go Bengaluru iņ search of work through a middleman.
The Rohingya people have been identified as Mohammad Rashid, Farmeen Begum, Mohammad Usman, Khairul Amin and a minor girl.
Police said they crossed the international border and entered Tripura through Bishalgarh area under Sepahijala district.
