Drug Worth Rs 1 Cr Seized From A House In Melaghar

The police of Melaghar police station of Sonamura subdivision under South Tripura District seized illegal drug paraphernalia worth around Rs 1 crore.

The raid was conducted on Tuesday midnight at the house of Farooq Hossain, a resident of Indiranagar area under Melaghar police station.

But the police failed to arrest Farooq Hossain. It is known that the police recovered 35 thousand 200 Yaba tablets and 158 bottles of Phensedyl by raiding his house.

The drugs were locked in an abandoned room in the house. Superintendent of Police B.J. Reddy of Sipahijala district rushed to Melagher on Wednesday. Visited the house.

Later, the District Superintendent of Police said that for the last 3 to 4 days, information was coming from secret sources regarding the stockpiling of these narcotics.

Based on that, the police was monitoring the owner of the house, Farooq Hossain. The operation was conducted on Tuesday night. The market value of recovered drugs is around Rs 1 crore.

SP said that the police are investigating. Although raid was conducted, the accused house owner was not arrested at that time as he was elsewhere. Farooq covered himself after getting the news of the raid.

The Superintendent of Police said that the police have information about the current location of the accused. The accused house owner and drug dealer Farooq Hossain to be arrested soon.
