Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have seized a huge cache of contraband goods worth Rs 1.02 crore from Karimganj -Agartala passenger train.
A BSF press release informed that on the specific input of the intelligence, officer of Teliamura in Khowai district, a special operation was launched along with a team of 192 Battalion BSF at Ambassa railway station Dhalai district, at around 6.20 pm on May 7.
In which thorough search of the coach (end point) of DEMU special train number 07680 from Karimganj to Agartala drug has been recovered.
During the search, around 204 grams of brown sugar was seized from a white colored bag left behind by the suspect, who managed to escape by taking advantage of other passengers.
The estimated value of the seized brown sugar is around Rs 1 crore in the international market.
“BSF is constantly striving to make the society drug free by enforcing the rule of law and such seizure of drugs is a decisive step in that direction,” the release said.
