An eviction drive was conducted at the Kumarghat station premises by the initiative of the Railway Department.
18 families become homeless. The government has already started working on the decision to develop Kumarghat railway station as Amrit Bharat railway station.
Accordingly, on Wednesday afternoon, the railway department officials started the evacuation drive of the houses around Kumarghat station with the help of police and TSR forces.
In this eviction drive of the officials of the railway department, the houses of 18 families living in the area for many years have been demolished.
CPIM Kumarghat sub-divisional office located there was also demolished in this drive.
“Due to the recognition of Kumarghat railway station as Amrit Bharat railway station, work has already being started to modernize the railway station” railway officials said.
