Two Chakma families were evicted for allegedly leaving Buddhism and converting to Christianity.
The two families have been living a miserable life for the past one year. In this regard, Purnajoy Chakma and Tarun Chakma filed a writ petition in the Tripura High Court.
The case was heard in the Tripura High Court on Tuesday in the bench of Justice Arindam Lodh.
The court ordered the administration to take immediate action in this regard and stop such activities immediately.
Incidentally, in November 2022, Purnajoy Chakma and Tarun Chakma, 2 families belonging to the Chakma community of West Andarchhara village of Unakoti district of Tripura left Buddhism and converted to Christianity.
Since their conversion to Christianity, the Chakma Social Justice Committee and the Adam Panchayat have expelled the two families from their society and various types of huliyas have been issued.

In this regard, Purnajoy Chakma and Tarun Chakma filed a writ petition in the High Court. The case was heard on Tuesday in the High Court’s bench of Justice Arindam Lodh.
After the hearing of this case, Samrat Kar Bhowmik, the senior advocate of the state for the petitioners, said that Justice Arindam Lodh of Tripura High Court reacted strongly to this incident.
After hearing this incident , High Court Justice Arindam Lodh expressed his concern and directed the administration to take immediate action in this matter. Besides, the court ordered to stop such work as soon as possible.
