Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal Passed Away At 95

Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal died on Tuesday in a private hospital in Mohali. He was 95 years old. 

Badal was hospitalized for the last several days. Parkash Singh Badal has been the Chief Minister of Punjab five times. 

Prakash Singh Badal was born on December 8, 1927 in a Jat Sikh family of Abul Khurana, a small village in Punjab.

 Parkash Singh Badal’s wife Surinder Kaur has also passed away. Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal is his son. 

Prakash Singh Badal had made his debut in politics in the year of independence . Won the first assembly election in 1957.

In 1969, Parkash Singh Badal became the MLA again. While Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1970–71, 1977–80, 1997–2002. 

At the same time, in 1972, 1980 and 2002, he wad the leader of the opposition . Prakash Singh Badal has also been a Member of Parliament. 

He had also served as a minister at the Centre. From March 1, 2007 to 2017, he held the responsibility of Chief Minister twice.
