Fresh Violence: 3 People From Kuki Community Shot Dead In Manipur

Three tribal people were shot dead by terrorists in Manipur’s Kangpopki district on Tuesday. The officers provided this information.

Officials in Manipur’s capital Imphal said armed militants attacked villages between Ireng and Karam in the border areas of Imphal West and Kangpopki districts and shot dead three villagers on the spot.

The extremists came to the tribal dominated villages in a vehicle early in the morning and left before the security forces arrived.

“The incident took place when three Kuki persons who were going in a vehicle were waylaid by armed miscreants and shot dead,” Tholu Rocky, additional superintendent of police, Kangpokpi, confirmed.

Notably three people were also killed in clashes with security forces and firing between terrorists in Pallel in Tengnoupal district on 8 and 9 September.

Since May 3, when ethnic violence broke out between Meitei and Kuki communities, at least 162 people died so far according to the official information.
