Five people, including a woman, were arrested at Agartala railway station while smuggling Ganja.
Ganja traffickers are now involving women in this smuggling trade. An attempt was made to smuggle ganja inside an AC machine in the train. But their strategy not succeed. The GRP jawans managed to nab five people including a woman in a raid at the Agartala railway station.
According to the details of the incident, a woman was arrested from Agartala railway station with dry Ganja. The woman was going to Bihar with ganja keeping it inside the AC machine.
SP of GRP Amitabh Pal said that special operation against drug addiction is going on. As part of that, a search operation was conducted at Agartala railway station. A total of 5 people were arrested in the search operation. One of them is a woman. An AC machine was with the woman. Dry Ganja was recovered from inside that AC machine.
Police said that such operations will continue. A case has been registered against them under specific sections. It has been informed that the vigilance and activity of GRPF will be increased to prevent smuggling of ganja by rail.
It is noted that there is extensive cultivation of ganja in different parts of the state become a major concern.
Although the state government has taken a strict stand against such addictions, but handling the situation has become a big challenge.
